Hey July!!! Where’d you go?

Come back here you sneaky little month you.

I blinked and you zipped past in a blur

taking your top hat

and red, white and blue banners

and little 5 X 7 plastic American flags on a stick

and sparklers!

I mean, I absolutely did not have enough sparkler time…

OR fireworks.

Seriously, I’m still waiting for a really good

Grand Finale!

Did you even show us a Grand Finale?

Or did you kinda slink out quietly?

I think you carefully packed your picnic baskets

and lightning bugs in Mason jars

and left.

Just simply LEFT.

Tiptoed off the summer stage and left.

From my way of thinking

you could have at least offered

one more pool party

or cherry snow cone.

We could have had more strawberry lemonade

on the porch…

or batch of homemade vanilla ice cream

but NO

you headed “outa dodge”.

Well so long

it’s been good to know ya.

I really enjoyed your stay even if it was a short one.

Come back next year and we MIGHT

let you spread your red and white gingham tablecloth

on the picnic table at our 4th of July party.
